Dganit Blechner

Pop artist. New York icons, restless color, Renaissance figures reimagined in the palette of right now.

See the collection

For over two decades, Dganit has been working from a sun-lit studio. Her subjects are women rendered in bloom. Marilyn, Brigitte, Audrey. Cities pieced together in collage. Soft, strange, unapologetic figures who refuse to sit politely inside the frame.

The work, layer by layer.

She works across mediums. Layered collage, finger-painted color, complex laser-cut wood and fabric, plexiglass, three-dimensional materials, and prints on canvas. Each piece moves through weeks, sometimes months, of layering.

Among the first contemporary artists to integrate video art into mixed media, her practice keeps finding new edges.

“Blechner's biggest achievement is that of economy. Like Warhol, she communicates the fragility and the allure of Monroe in the same breath.”
